The 19th edition of Paris Photo
and Exhibition at Artcurial!
amanasalto is delighted to participate at the 19th edition of Paris Photo, the world’s most prestigious art photo fair held each year since 1997. And we will also be holding an exhibition at Artcurial, called Pop-up Laboratory and Great Platinum Printings.
◆Paris Photo
In our booth (Lounge VIP Exposants, next to the Publisher booths), we are featuring :
The latest work by Hiroshi Sugimoto, “Gekka Kohaku Baizu (Red and White Plum Blossoms Under Moon Light)”. Well-versed in Japan’s antiquities, classics and traditional theater, Sugimoto demonstrates his adaptation of national treasure Red and White Plum Blossoms by Korin Ogata in monochrome by platinum and palladium prints. The work is by far in the world the greatest in scale, and also an extraordinary form of photographic artwork as it is being mounted into folding screens by the Japanese paperhanging specialist.
With Nobuyoshi Araki, we are releasing the complete set of 18 contact sheets including all 108 images from his legendary self published monograph in 1971 “Sentimental Journey”. While the rediscovery of the long lost negatives from the 14th contact sheet had been crucial to the publication this time, it is certain that by glimpsing through all 653 cuts one can see the present and past of Araki’s life as a photographer.
We will also be launching “Kansuke Yamamoto - Selection from Early Works (1933-1953)”, and exhibiting some prints of Lou Bonian and Yang Fudong first-hand, before the release in 2016 Spring with Three Shadows. Furthermore, Raphaël Dallaporta’s set of 48 Cyanotype over platinum prints, namely “Covariance” produced by us will also be exhibited too.
◆Artcurial
We will also be holding an exhibition at Artcurial, an auction house which is 5 minutes walk to venue of Paris Photos, called Pop-up Laboratory and Great Platinum Printings.
Many platinum prints and portfolios starting from Daido Moriyama’s “View from the Laboratory”, Nobuyoshi Araki’s “EROTOS 2013”, and Imogen Cunningham’s “Frida Kahlo Rivera” will be shown. During the exhibition, we will also setup a pop-up laboratory and hold a few platinum printing workshop.
We are looking forward to seeing you at both venues!
