Kansuke Yamamoto's solo exhibition at
Taka Ishii Gallery New York 2016 4/14 - 5/14

Kansuke Yamamoto's solo exhibition will start on April 14th at Taka Ishii Gallery New York.

Yamamoto was one of the groundbreaking artists in Japanese surrealism, active from the 1930s through the 1980s.
His representative works include photomontage masterpieces “Reminiscence”, “Stapled Flesh”, collage work “A Chronicle of Drifting”, as well as works that transform Japanese subjects like bathhouse and shoji screen into his own kind of surrealist expression.

Faithful and precise reproduction from the artist's negatives without altering his originally intended expressions was long considered impossible. Thanks to the cooperation of Yamamoto's Estate, the reproduction was made possible through amanasalto's originally developed digital exposure technology incorporated into platinum printmaking, resulting in prints delicate in texture and rich in tones.

In the exhibition, Taka Ishii Gallery NY will show the series of 14 modern platinum prints, namely Kansuke Yamamoto - Selection from Early Works (1933 - 1953), along with his treasured vintage prints.

Please definitely do not miss this opportunity to explore Yamamoto's meticulously created, timeless world of surrealism.
