amanasalto at Yasumasa Morimura's
solo exhibition 2016 4/5 - 6/19
Yasumasa Morimura's solo exhibition "The Self-Portraits of YASUMASA MORIMURA: My Art, My Story, My Art History" is currently being held at The National Museum of Art, Osaka.
For this special occasion, amanasalto has collaborated with Yasumasa Morimura to produce 12 platinum prints from his series Los Nuevos Caprichos. Los Nuevos Caprichos is Morimura's homage to Francisco de Goya's "Los Caprichos", made by the best aquatint and etching techniques during that period. Morimura has chosen the platinum printing technique among many other photographic printing techniques, in order to realize a similar texture of Goya's works on paper. Our combination of traditional platinum printing technique from the 19th century with our latest technology has served as an intermediary between Goya's and Morimura's works, transcending the ages.
In this intriguing exhibition, Morimura appears as more than 30 different artists from the past, re-exposing the Western art history through his "self portraits".
The exhibition will be ending on June 19th so don't miss the chance!
