帕特里克·格里斯连续6个月在巴黎国家历史博物馆与法国其他4个地方里拍摄了超过250个骷髅。从最小的到最大的脊椎动物，帕特里克将它们至于黑色背景前，让骷髅呈现出雕塑的感觉。这一完全黑白的摄影作品给提供了另一种视点去看待自然科学，并且迫使我们去重新思考艺术作品和科学作品之间的界限。壮观的，神秘的，优雅的，奇异的脊椎动物骷髅已经成为了艺术品，它们其中还蕴含了几亿年物种进化的痕迹。

 

《EVOLUTION—The Personal Collection》是书籍《Evolution》里面的节选，由最初提出这个想法的Xavier Barral出版，其中两百多幅格里斯的图片由科学家和纪实作家Dr. Jean-Baptiste de Panafieu撰写文章。这种组合很好深刻地阐述了我们是怎么成为现在的我们。《Evolution》的脚步超越了争论，印证了达尔文理论不可否定的真理。这些模糊的，普遍的，以及有趣的骷髅，展现出生命是怎么一次又一次的进化转变的。
